Rare Cool Stuff Launches New Website Showcasing Company’s Projects
Site Premiere Spotlights RCS’s Latest Release: ‘LO & Behold’ Companion Book for Bob Dylan & The Band’s ‘The Basement Tapes – Complete’ Boxed Set
LOS ANGELES — Pop culture archival company Rare Cool Stuff Unltd. has launched a dramatically redesigned and updated fan-inclusive website at http://www.rarecoolstuff.com to showcase its book projects, which are filled with rare artifacts and music memorabilia.
The new, media-rich RareCoolStuff.com website presents overviews of RCS projects that feature the work of well-known photographers such as Al Clayton, John Cohen, Henry Diltz, Elliott Landy, Ken Regan and John Sheele, as well as other exclusive book projects for the Morrison Hotel Gallery, the Sunset Marquis Hotel, Prestige Jazz, the Concord Music Group and more (see the Portfolio section).
Rare Cool Stuff is also the exclusive home of the Alan Pariser Archives. Featured artists in the late rock entrepreneur’s archive include Delaney and Bonnie, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Ron Wood, Keith Richards, Dave Mason, Donovan, The Average White Band, Muhammad Ali, B.B. King, James Brown, Duane Allman, Freddie King and more. At launch, RCS is presenting a rare, previously unreleased studio outtake of Donovan’s “Mellow Yellow” plus rare and unreleased tracks by Delaney and Bonnie.
Spotlight on ‘LO & Behold’ Dylan ‘Basement Tapes’ Book
At launch, RareCoolStuff.com is spotlighting “LO & Behold,” the 130-page hardcover companion book for “Bob Dylan & The Band: The Basement Tapes – Complete” boxed set, Vol. 11 in Dylan’s celebrated “Bootleg Series” of material from the artist’s recorded archives.
The “LO & Behold” book is available exclusively with the super-deluxe edition of the “Basement Tapes – Complete” box, released by Sony/Legacy Nov. 4.
Designed by five-time Grammy nominated Rare Cool Stuff co-founder Geoff Gans (pictured at right) and printed by RCS partner Gary Gonzales at Dorado Packaging in North Hollywood, “LO & Behold” was 100 percent made in the USA, as are most of Rare Cool Stuff’s products.
In celebration of Rare Cool Stuff’s latest and largest release, the company has created a very special exclusive “Basement Tapes”-related item, to be released a week after the boxed set. To be the first to find out more details and how to purchase, sign up for the Rare Cool Stuff newsletter.

RareCoolStuff.com – A Cool Place to Visit, to Meet Other Pop Culture Fans
“We’re working hard to keep creativity at the forefront of packaging and design, and we’re proud of the friends and partners we’ve made producing these projects,” said Gans, whose creatively driven clients over the past two decades have included Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young, John Fogerty, Sony Music, the Concord Music Group, Warner Bros. Music, the Sunset Marquis Hotel, the Morrison Hotel Gallery and more.
“Working with top artists demands that we are always on top of our game — not to mention at the forefront of production techniques, which includes finding the perfect balance between art and economics,” Gans said. “Working directly with the artists and their labels always produces the best results, and we will continue to work with them to come up with the best creative solutions, whatever the projects may be.”
Gans and his partners have created RareCoolStuff.com as a site to not only showcase their projects, but also provide a destination and meeting place for other like-minded pop culture enthusiasts.
“That’s my goal – to develop the site in this fan-friendly direction, where people can share their collections of rare, cool stuff,” he said.
As word of Rare Cool Stuff’s portfolio spreads, Gans said, “We are enjoying our ongoing relationships, as well as an ever-increasing number of people inquiring how we can work with them.”
RareCoolStuff.com Made in the USA
Gans takes special satisfaction in producing Rare Cool Stuff’s goods in the United States – including the “LO & Behold” companion book and the new RareCoolStuff.com website.
RCS created the site in collaboration with top Web developers DDx Media, based in Valencia, Calif. with offices in New York City.
DDx’s Tatiana Mulry and Anya Garrett built the site on a WordPress platform, then Gans, Rare Cool Stuff Vice President/New Media Stephen K. Peeples and RCS Associate Producer Paige Hagen collaborated on customizing the site’s architecture and navigation, and updating the content.
“Whether it’s a book project or our digital portfolio, we work with dedicated American craftsmen and women who care about their work, and cut no corners on quality,” Gans said. “I get a great feeling when I tell people, ‘Rare Cool Stuff is made in the USA.’”
